Mystical, Glowing Mushrooms and Other Fungi

From time to time I like referring back to my old miniature painting and sculpture days, and one of those burner projects I've had for a fair number of years now has been being able to reproduce various types of fungi and make them, ah, glow. There are different forms of this out in the natural world that have their own bioluminescence and over the years people have hopped on the train and started making their own versions, and I've come across some pretty cool examples that are inspiring.

I figured I'd throw together some collected pictures, and a couple of videos I came across recently that touched on an idea I had many years ago that someone else followed through with and I can kind of see the results.

The different methods for making these things can range from polymer clay to silicone weather caulking, and all of it is relatively inexpensive. Being a modeler/sculptor I've already jotted down on my to-do list a number of helper tools that I plan on putting out, but of course they are for my own use at the onset and I'm hoping to pass the fruits of my experimentation on to other people out there that may be interested.

More on that later. Videos at the bottom...
